A practical buyer's guide from EZ STEEL INDUSTRIAL — 30+ years of integrated tube, fitting and flange manufacturing.
When a refinery specifies a 600-psi steam line, a shipyard commissions a seawater cooling circuit, or a power plant schedules a boiler overhaul, the conversation quickly narrows to one question: which stainless steel pipe actually belongs in the system? Specifications look similar on paper, but the differences between ASTM A312, A213, A269, EN 10216-5 and GB/T 14976 directly control service life, weldability and total project cost. Choosing wrong is expensive; choosing well is a quiet form of risk management.
EZ STEEL INDUSTRIAL has been supplying industrial pipe, fittings and flanges since 1994. With more than 500 specialists, an annual capacity above 480,000 metric tons and full API, EN and ASME certification, we manufacture stainless steel pipe as part of an integrated supply chain — not a standalone catalog line. That integration is what this guide is built around.
The single biggest mistake we see in pipe selection is choosing a grade before the service is fully defined. Before you compare 304 versus 316L, answer four questions:
Once those are clear, the standard falls out almost on its own. A high-temperature boiler calls for pressure tubes to ASTM A213 TP304H or TP316H. A fluid transport line at moderate temperature fits ASTM A312. A sanitary or instrumentation line typically drops to A269. Getting this mapping right up front saves weeks of approvals later.
Stainless steel pipe is produced in two families — seamless and welded — and each carries a different set of standards. Our stainless steel pipe range covers both, manufactured from austenitic grades 1.4301/304 through 1.4571/316Ti, including low-carbon "L" variants for welded service where post-weld annealing is impractical.
Seamless vs. welded is not a quality question — it is a fit-for-purpose question. Seamless pipe (ASTM A312, EN 10216-5) is preferred for high-pressure, high-temperature and cyclic service. Welded and cold-worked pipe (ASTM A312, A249) is widely used in lower-pressure fluid transport and heat exchanger service, where the forming cost saving matters.
For heat recovery and boiler rebuilds, our TP304H/TP316H tubes supplied to ASTM A213 are solution-annealed, eddy-current or hydrostatically tested, and delivered with full MTC traceability. For structural and architectural use, mechanical tubes to ASTM A554 and EN 10296-2 provide tighter dimensional tolerances and a better surface finish without paying for the pressure rating you do not need.
A premium tube installed with the wrong fitting is still a weak link. That is why EZ STEEL bundles its stainless steel pipe with the matching connection components from the same factory, under the same mill certificate. This avoids the "traceability gap" that often shows up during third-party inspection.
For marine and offshore systems, the same logic applies to copper-nickel piping: matched Cu-Ni pipe flanges and EEMUA 144 / 234 tubes prevent galvanic mismatch and keep the seawater loop reliable for decades.
Every batch of pipe we ship is traceable back to heat number, with full MTC, mechanical and chemical test reports. Our laboratories operate under ISO 9001, and our welders and procedures hold ASME and AWS certifications. That matters when the inspector on site asks for documentation, and it matters even more when the system is commissioned five years from now.
We have supplied stainless steel pipe and related products to petrochemical plants, the West–East Gas Pipeline, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, modern vessel piping systems and steam power plants. The same quality system supports a 5,000-ton bulk order and a 200-ton specialty run with the same paperwork discipline.
Talk to a Project Engineer, Not a Catalog
If you are sourcing stainless steel pipe for a pressure system, a heat exchanger, a marine cooling loop or a structural project, send us your datasheet and we will return a mill-aligned material recommendation within one working day. EZ STEEL INDUSTRIAL — integrated manufacturing, project-bundled supply, and three decades of certification-ready documentation behind every shipment.
